What are Standing and Harvested Sales?
Coillte has 2 types of roundwood sales, Standing and Harvested. Standing means that an area, or stand, of trees is proposed for sale. Our customers are provided with an information pack detailing the forest and tree characteristics. This information can be used to assess the stand of trees to determine quality and end use of the roundwood. The successful customer then independently arranges harvesting to be carried out. Standing sales account for approximately 40% of the annual volume sold by Coillte. Harvested means Coillte arrange for a stand of trees to be harvested. The roundwood is cut to pre-determined specifications and brought to roadside. The roundwood is then offered as products; Large Sawlog, Medium Sawlog, Small Sawlog or Pallet and Stake.
