Monday 29th June 2026: With the Leaving Certificate exams now finished and the final CAO Change of Mind deadline fast approaching, Coillte is reminding students considering a future in forestry that the deadline to apply for its Forestry Scholarship Programme is Monday, 6th July. The scholarship offers up to €20,000 in financial support over the course of a forestry degree, alongside opportunities for paid summer placements and potential future career opportunities with Coillte. Developed in response to Ireland’s growing need for skilled forestry professionals, Coillte’s Forestry Scholarship Programme supports students enrolling in full-time undergraduate forestry degrees at University College Dublin (UCD) or South East Technological University (SETU) from September 2026. The scholarship offers €5,000 per year for the duration of the forestry degree, including an opportunity for paid summer placement with Coillte, and, upon successful completion, consideration for future job opportunities within the organisation. The programme has seen strong growth in demand, with applications increasing by 25% in the past year.

Speaking ahead of the application deadline, Mark Carlin, Managing Director, Coillte Forest said: “Forestry offers students the opportunity to build a meaningful career in a sector that is central to climate action, biodiversity, sustainable timber supply and rural development. As the application deadline approaches, we are encouraging anyone considering forestry as a study or career path to take this final opportunity to apply.

“Through the Coillte Forestry Scholarship Programme, students can access financial support, practical experience and exposure to future career opportunities. We are keen to support the next generation of forestry professionals and would encourage eligible students to submit their applications before Monday 6th July.”
