Status Red Weather Warning – Coillte Urges Recreation Users Not To Enter Forests in Affected Areas
Friday 22nd November:
Met Éireann has issued the following weather warning, Status Red – Rain warning for counties Cork and Galway.
Coillte advises recreational users and visitors not to enter forest lands in affected areas during this Met Éireann Status Red weather warning.
Forest recreation sites in affected Red Warning counties will be closed for the duration of the weather warning and will not reopen until Monday November 25th.
Met Éireann has also issued the following weather warnings – Status Orange – Rain warning for counties Waterford, Kerry, Clare, Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim.
Coillte advises all users of forest lands including its staff, contractors and members of the public, to exercise caution if entering forest lands in affected areas during this Met Éireann status Orange weather warning.
Possible Impacts include, severe flooding, damage to homes & businesses, dangerous/treacherous travelling conditions and poor visibility.
Local restrictions may be in place in our forests and Coillte kindly asks visitors to follow all safety signage on site.
