Garryhinch
Overview
Located in a typical woodland setting, this site is part of the old Warburton Estate. The woodlands lie on both sides of the river Barrow. Grasses, rushes and an abundance of wild flowers are also present including bluebells by the riverside. In this pleasant woodland landscape, you may also observe fauna such as fallow deer, grey and red squirrels, rabbits and a broad variety of birdlife. Beginning at the car park and proceeding over bridge on the River Barrow, this woodland provides a leisurely walks through the forest.
Things to do
Walk: The wood has 2 looped walks which can cater for both the casual stroller or the nature walker, all these trails are waymarked and both start and end in the car park. The Garryhinch Loop (3.2kms, 45mins, easy) is a nice walk around the forest taking in the various tree species found in the forest; The Barrow Walk (3.8kms, 45mins, easy) crossing a stone arch bridge and floow2ing a section of the Barrow this is a lovely walk.
