Carrickbyrne Hill
Overview
Carrickbyrne’s Slí na Slainte walks are ideal for walking and getting exercise while taking in some terrific views of the neighbouring countryside. Being part of the Slí na Slainte network they are marked and measured routes.There are approximately 12.5 km of trails. The site was once part of the Jeffare’s Estate. The oak wood is known as “Camp Field”. During the 1798 rebellion the insurgents gathered here before marching on New Ross.There is a map board showing the walks etc. at picnic area.
Things to do
Walk: The wood has 3 looped Slí na Slainte walks through it which can cater for both the casual stroller or the nature walker, all these trails are waymarked with the Slí na Slainte logo and km markings. The Yellow Loop (3.6kms, 1 hr, moderate); The Blue Loop (4.4kms, 1 1/2 hr, moderate); The Red Loop (4.5km, 1 hr, moderate).
