Ardarou
Overview
Ardarou is to be found in a scenic wooded valley formed by the Bride river. The Bride is a tributary of the mighty Munster Blackwater that enters the sea at Youghal. Historically, the area was the heartland of the O’ Keeffe clan until the time of Cromwell. Leading from the area & running westwards along the river is a famine relief road.
Things to do
Walk: For explorers, there is a lovely wood/riverside walk that is serviced by two footbridges. The picnic area down beside the Old Bride Bridge is the perfect location for some al fresco dining. Who knows you may even spot a Kingfisher or later after sunset Daubenton bats foraging above the water!
Explore nature: It is possible to see Kingfishers, otters and dippers here.
