Met Éireann issue updated Low Temperature/Ice Weather Warnings – Forest users urged to exercise caution

Thursday 9th January 2025:

Coillte advises all users of its forests and lands including staff, contractors and members of the public to be mindful of the forecasted weather conditions and weather warnings over the coming days and exercise caution if entering forests or lands in affected areas.

Met Éireann has issued the following weather warning; Status Orange – Low Temperature/Ice warning for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway, Roscommon, Tipperary

Met Éireann Weather Warning: Extremely cold with widespread severe frost and ice, along with lying snow in some areas. Patches of freezing fog also.

Potential Impacts Include:

• Dangerous travelling conditions on roads and underfoot
• Travel disruption and delays
• Animal welfare issues
• Poor visibility
