Coillte welcomes today’s publication of the Mid-Term Review of the National Forestry Programme 2023–2027 by Minister of State for Forestry, Farm Safety and Horticulture, Michael Healy-Rae TD.

The enhanced financial supports, increased scheme flexibilities, and new agroforestry options represent a positive development for forest owners, farmers, landowners and the wider forestry sector.

We particularly welcome the improved incentives along with the commitment to reducing administrative burdens through simplified definitions. These measures will help provide greater confidence and clarity for those within the sector and equally for those considering forestry as part of their land-use and income diversification plans.

Coillte looks forward to continuing to work closely with the Department, farmers and landowners to help deliver the ambition of the National Forestry Programme. A vibrant and sustainable forestry sector is essential to Ireland’s future, supporting more than 12,000 rural jobs and contributing over €2.3 billion to the Irish economy each year, while playing a critical role in enhancing biodiversity and meeting national climate targets
