Coillte Statement

Responsible Use of the Outdoors During Covid-19  Tuesday May 5th 2020

The Taoiseach has announced 2 changes to the restrictions put in place to protect us all from the spread of COVID-19 that will come into effect Tuesday 5 May.

The changes are that:

  • people can travel up to 5 kilometres from their home to exercise
  • those who are cocooning can leave their homes for exercise so long as they avoid all contact with other people

In accordance with this advice and the restrictions in place to minimize the spread of Covid-19, Coillte's forests and forest parks will only be open to local pedestrians. Carparks at all our sites are closed to the public.

The decision has been made in order to facilitate citizens living within 5km of our forests to take brief individual physical exercise within their locality, provided all adhere to strict 2m social distancing measures.

Only by working together can we slow the spread of Covid-19 so it is vital that all of us follow these guidelines at this time.  Please stay safe and be mindful of the safety of others.
