An Taisce to take on the stewardship of new native woodlands created by the Nature Trust

Nature Partners CLG, trading as the Nature Trust, a not-for-profit enterprise which was established by Coillte and Forestry Partners in 2021 to create new native woodlands at scale across Ireland, has entered into an agreement with An Taisce, Ireland’s National Trust, to take on the longer-term stewardship of the native woodlands created by the Nature Trust.

Thanks to the support of external funders, the Nature Trust has successfully raised over €7million for the creation of 650 hectares of new native woodlands in Ireland. As the forest establishment phase has significantly progressed, the Nature Trust is transferring the native woodlands to An Taisce. These native woodlands will grow and develop over time, storing carbon and providing habitats for wildlife and a place for people to connect with nature.

An Taisce is a not-for-profit and has a long legacy of protecting and celebrating Ireland’s natural and built heritage and will manage these native woodlands into the future.

The Nature Trust would like to thank the funders who have contributed to the establishment of these native woodlands and to congratulate them on the enduring positive environmental benefits that these forests will bring to future generations.
