Overview

Welcome to the Lord’s Wood, a Forest Service Neighbourwood scheme project in partnership with Coillte and the local community in Baltinglas.

The Lord’s Wood was originally part Benjamin O’Neale Stratford the Earl of Alderough’s estate. And the piers at the entrance leading to the car park are from the original estate.

Another historical feature of the woods that can still be seen on the landscape behind the wall bordering the N81is the route of an old railway line that ceased service in the late 1950’s.

On the N81 just after the mart in Baltinglass go through the pier gates leading for the golf course and the car park is 200 m up the road on the right hand side.
