Roddenagh Wood
Overview
The woodland walk has been constructed and funded by the local community group, and all the work was done using voluntary labour, with guidance from Coillte. At the North Eastern end of the wood are the remains of an old woodland site with a lovely bridge and boardwalk, the plan for the rest of the forest over time is to make it a mixture of native woodland and conifer forest.
Things to do
Walk: The Ciarán Shannon Walk is a looped trail that starts at the Church car park in Annacurra (2.4 km, 45min, moderate) looped trail consisting of purpose built trail and forest roads that brings you back to the start at the car park. In some parts of the forest there are fenced in enclosures, this is to protect the newly planted and young trees from being eaten by deer.
