Oaklands
Overview
Oaklands also known as Kelly’s Wood is a lovely woodland with loads of biodiversity and heritage, with a small stream running though the middle of the property.
Things to do
There are 3 walks in the woodland, so something for everyone, or just follow the forest road down to the stream crossing and back.
The Green Trail takes you over a little bridge just after the car park and climbs to the higher part of the wood, it then loops back at the stream crossing to go back along the forest road – moderate – 2.0 km.
The Red Trail is accessed when you follow the forest road down to the stream crossing and then follow its loop up towards the access to the old car parking area at the fishery – moderate – 1.5 km.
The Blue trail leads off from the Red Trail and brings you over to the old Lime Kiln and Ice House, before turning back on itself – moderate – 1.2 km.
The Red & Blue trail require a gentle walk down the forest road to access them.
Don't miss our hidden gem
