Mountain Grove
Overview
Welcome to Mountain Grove woodlands, this is a real treat of a 4km loop that takes you through mature woodland, and in springtime you will find a magnificent carpet of blue that fills the air with their fragrant scent.
Start from the village of Piltown which is just off the N24 from Carrick-on-Suir and Waterford. Take the R698 northward in the direction of Owning and Kilkenny. After 2km continue straight towards Templeorum as the R698 turns left. At a crossroads after 4km veer right – the trailhead is less than 1km on the left. Note: The trailhead is signposted from Piltown.
Things to do
There is a lovely looped walk in the woodland that takes you through the ever changing tree scape and over small streams and through wooded glades.
The Mountain Grove Loop – 4 km – moderate – 1 to 1 1/2 hour – red markers
The walk is along forestry tracks and woodland trails.
Facilities
Layby parking with limited space a further number of spaces are available further up the road if full, and also linked to the loop walk.
