Mount Nebo
Overview
Welcome to Munt Nebo, the walking Trail starts at Hollyfort car park on the Monaseed Road, beside the Old School House where there is ample parking space. The trail provides scenic views across the surrounding countryside, particularly on the descent back to Hollyfort.
The woodland trail winds uphill to a Fairy Wood at the top, which then leads onto an open looped Coillte forestry road, which runs around the slopes of Mt Nebo and Slievebaun. There are four seating benches situated along the Coillte trail.
Mount Nebo has historical links to the Irish republican women’s paramilitary organisation, Cumann na mban, through two of their members, Maire Comerford and Aileen Keogh.
Take exit 22 from M11. Head southwest up Gorey Main Street (R772). At the cross-roads, turn right into North Parade and onto Hollyfort Road. After about 8 miles you will enter Hollyfort Village. At the cross-roads, turn left, signposted to Monaseed Road. After a short distance you will see the Hollyfort Old School and Car Park on your right. The trail starts on the opposite side of the road.
