Overview

Welcome to Kilpatrick Wood, a lovely small forest nestled on the shores of Lough Owel.
The site is also historic and has an ancient standing stone on site to view.

Take the N4 north from Mullingar, drive past the Lough Owel viewing car park, past the turnoff for Ballinafid and after about 1/2 km take the L5818 on the left hand side, the car park is just down the lane after a right hand bend.

Things to do

There a two easy walks in Kilpatrick both leading down to the lakeshore, and the is a spur off these to the path leading to the standing stone.

The Blue walk - 1.5 km - down to the lake shore and back.

The Red Loop - 1.8 km - Looped walk around the forest.
