Kilanerin
Overview
Welcome to Kilanerin & Curragh Wood one each side of the local road leading to the village of Kilanerin. The Irish Coill an Iarainn means the Wood of the Iron and has been inhabited for roughly the last 7,000 years.
Both woods have an abundance of native trees, plenty of birds, butterflies and wildlife and with beautiful scenic walks provide an extremely enjoyable way to spend some time with family and friends of all ages.
From the M11 take Exit 22 from Dublin/Wexford. At Tinnock Roundabout, take the exit onto the Arklow Rd / R772 signposted Gorey town. After 180m (opposite Green’s Berry Farm), turn right onto the L1009 and continue for approximately 2.2km. At the approach to Kilanerin village the entrance to the Curragh Wood is on the right. Slightly further along the road, on the left hand side is the entrance to Kilanerin Wood and the main car parking area.
Things to do
There are two nice looped walks that are both easy and can be enjoyed by all the family.
The Kilanerin Wood Loop – Easy – 3 km – Red markers – 45 minutes
The Curragh Wood Loop – Easy – 3.5 km – White markers – 1 hour
