Overview

Welcome to Emo Court lovely woodlands that surround the old estate, the House and Gardens are managed by the OPW and the woodlands are managed by Coillte.

The estate was home to the earls of Portarlington until the War of Independence forced them to abandon Ireland for good. The Jesuits moved in some years later and, as the Novitiate of the Irish Province, the mansion played host to some 500 of the order’s trainees.

Take the R422 to Emo village and enter Emo Court through the grand gates, parking is just inside the gates along the road.

There is also a car park closer to the Emo House owned and run by the OPW, please check their web site for opening and closing times.
