Corlea Forest
Overview
Located outside Ballyshannon in the Knader area close to the Northern Ireland border, Corlea Forest offers visitors a peaceful woodland escape and a chance to experience the natural beauty of this unique border region. Sharing its entrance with a section of the renowned 480km Kingfisher Cycle Trail, the forest provides a welcoming stop-off point for cyclists exploring the counties of Leitrim, Fermanagh, Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan.
Visitors can enjoy an easy 3.7km walking trail that follows a network of forest roads and traditional boreens, winding through a diverse mixed woodland landscape. The gentle terrain makes the trail suitable for walkers of all ages and abilities, offering an opportunity to relax, enjoy the tranquillity of the forest and experience the changing sights and sounds of nature throughout the seasons.
Recent improvements to the site have been delivered with support from the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) and Donegal County Council, helping to enhance access and visitor experience while showcasing the area’s rich recreational potential.
