Clogrennan
Overview
Clogrennan Wood offers the family a gentle walk on forest roads with magnificent views of Carlow town and the River Barrow. The area is an old woodland and has had forestry since the 1800’s. With Beech, Spruce, Larch and Oak with vegetation consistent with that of an old woodland, a great spectacle when the bluebells come out and the fresh smell of wild garlic.
Things to do
Walk: The is a National Looped walk in Clogrennan; The Clogrennan looped Walk (3.5 km, 1 ½ hr, easy) it starts from the car park, follow the purple arrow along the forestr road to reach a Y-junction. This is the point from which the loop proper begins. At the top of the zig-zag climb turn around and marvel in the great view of Carlow and the River barrow below. Cross a stream at a concrete 'ford' as you are heading back on the loop before rejoing the forest road back to the car park.
