Bonny Glen Wood
Overview
The lands around Bonnyglen were formerly part of the Porter estate. The tenants in this area emigrated to America during the famine. Their passage was paid by the local landlord. The woodland environment provides a stark contrast to the nearby shoreline and moor land areas, and is dominated by Bonnyglen lough.
Improvement works have been carried out at Bonny Glen under the neighbourwood scheme funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
