Action Plans

Coillte began the process of addressing the protection of "key" habitats and species relevant to Irish forestry in a systematic manner in 2001 and this process is ongoing today.

The development of national biodiversity plans is the Statutory Responsibility of the National Parks and Wildlife Service of the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.  Nevertheless, in 2001, in support of the national process Coillte decided to develop biodiversity action plans for the following species and habitats that are listed as rare or endangered in the EU habitats Directive and for which forestry is relevant to their conservation:
