Coillte\u2019s next step is to secure funding partners to progress the project to construction, with engagements commencing in due course. Meanwhile, Coillte will assess the planning conditions to ensure all requirements can be met. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Lough Key Forest and Activity Park\u00a0is\u00a0one of Ireland\u2019s most popular\u00a0recreation sites\u00a0with\u00a0almost 200,000\u00a0visits\u00a0recorded in\u00a02025.\u00a0Under this\u00a0proposed\u00a0redevelopment,\u00a0Coillte and Roscommon County Council, together with Waterways Ireland,\u00a0aim to enhance the Park\u2019s existing offerings to encourage local, national and international visitors to spend more time in Co. Roscommon, which will in turn increase the economic activity within both the local and wider economy.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The intention is to evolve the park into a mature, all\u00a0year-round\u00a0visitor destination while preserving its natural and cultural setting.\u00a0Key features\u00a0would\u00a0include the creation of Ireland\u2019s longest, highest and fastest twin zipline, extension of existing campsite and\u00a0enhanced camping facilities,\u00a0additional\u00a0aerial\u00a0adventure\u00a0zones\u00a0from\u00a0Zipit,\u00a0new water activities through a floating aqua park, as well as upgrades to the trail network and an enhanced\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Rockingham Remembered Tour<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to highlight the\u00a0rich\u00a0history of the park.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Coillte would like to acknowledge the funding support provided by\u00a0F\u00e1ilte Ireland\u2019s Regenerative Tourism and Placemaking Scheme, co-funded by the EU and the\u00a0Government of Ireland under the EU Just Transition Fund. This funding enabled the development of the strategic plan that has now received planning approval.
