By implementing sustainable practices and processes, Coillte can operate efficiently and effectively while contributing positively to a more sustainable future for society and the planet.<\/p>\n

Coillte balances and delivers the multiple benefits of forests for climate, nature, wood and people. The organisation engages regularly with stakeholders and closely monitors the business’s impact to ensure it is delivering on its vision to create a sustainable future for all.<\/p>\n

SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY<\/strong><\/p>\n

Strategy Development<\/strong><\/p>\n

Coillte\u2019s forestry strategic vision aims to sustainably balance and deliver multiple benefits from its forests across four strategic pillars: climate, nature, wood, and people. In December 2023, following public consultation and a Strategic Environmental Assessment, Coillte\u2019s Forest Estate Strategic Land-Use Plan (FESLUP) was published.<\/p>\n

Having determined the most material sustainability issues and finalised the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) profile of Coillte\u2019s existing managed forest estate, and Coillte\u2019s business emissions, Coillte is in the process of developing a set of near-term sustainability metrics and KPI\u2019s which will measure the organisation\u2019s progress against key sustainability objectives.<\/p>\n

Contribution to Sustainable Development<\/strong><\/p>\n

Coillte\u2019s forestry strategic vision aims to sustainably balance and deliver multiple benefits from its forests across four strategic pillars: climate, nature, wood, and people. In 2024, Coillte made significant progress on its forestry strategic ambitions (as outlined in the \u2018Strategy in Action\u2019 section of this report on page 30).<\/p>\n

In 2024 Coillte commenced the development of its Land Use Strategic Implementation Plan (LUSIP). The LUSIP translates the high-level ambitions and objectives outlined in Coillte’s Forest Estate Strategic Land Use Plan (FESLUP) 2023-2050 (published in 2023) into implementable and measurable actions over a 10-year period from 2026 to 2035. The primary purpose of the LUSIP is to bridge the gap between strategy and implementation, ensuring Coillte’s long-term vision for the forest estate is realised through specific initiatives and best practices in forestry.<\/p>\n
