Annually, we produce approximately 3 million cubic metres of wood annually which is used to build our homes, for fencing, decking, for pallets to transport goods around the world and to produce MDF to make our furniture.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Renewable &amp; Sustainable<\/strong> \u2013 The softwood market in Ireland is dependent on harvesting conifer trees. For every tree we harvest, we plant three trees in its place \u2013 ensuring a continued supply of this natural and renewable resource which helps support our bioeconomy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Benefit to Climate Action \u2013 <\/strong>There are many benefits to using wood materials. Carbon is stores in long life wood products and also using wood to build our homes significantly reduces the embodied carbon in construction.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Use more Wood \u2013 <\/strong>We have a great opportunity to use more wood in Ireland as our forest estate is expanding and it is critical that we are self sufficient in meeting our wood needs to take pressure off old growth forests elsewhere in the world.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Supporting the Circular Economy \u2013 <\/strong>Ireland\u2019s forest products sector produces a range of quality wood and wood-based panel products for both the domestic and export construction and joinery markets such as OSB and MDF manufactured by MEDITE SMARTPLY.
