Commercial Manager

Role Objective

This role has responsibility for the overall commercial management of the Farm Partner and Corporate Financial Partnership portfolios through management of accurate Partnership reporting and analysis and the full commercial assessment & payment process, maintenance of accurate datasets, reports & journals and driving Strategic Partnership objectives & initiatives and collaboration with key supporting teams. The role requires a good commercial mindset and understanding of financial management, as this role is focused on optimising the commercial management of forestry crops and Partnerships.

Responsibilities

Farm Partners

  • Commercial management of all Farm Partner schemes in line with policies
  • Coordination of the commercial assessment process and collaborate with all relevant teams to ensure high quality, accurate plans are delivered to meet our Partner’s needs
  • Develop and maintain accurate budgets and forecasts of Farm Partner payments and collaborate with CF Finance to explain variances
  • Calculate accurate annuities due, in line with policy, to support payments calculations
  • Prepare and issue commercial statements on time
  • Manage processing all Farm Partner payments on time and maintain accurate records
  • Complete accurate Farm Partner valuations to support acquisitions
  • Undertake comprehensive analysis and data validation to provide support to Farm Partner team and operations in the commercial aspects of the management of Farm Partners
  • Develop and manage effective data management systems to continually maintain accurate current and historical data related to all farm partnerships

Corporate Financial Partners

  • Act as primary liaison for Coillte’s financial partners and coordinate the resolution of any matters arising
  • Develop and manage delivery of budgets and forecasts for financial partners and collaborate with Forest Finance to facilitate the delivery of accurate accounts
  • Explain any budget variances and investigate and resolve any reporting queries.
  • Complete required monthly and quarterly reports, including collation of all relevant information
  • Completion of journals, invoices and payment instructions
  • Preparation and monitoring of management and licence fees and prepare and issue final invoices
  • Preparation and maintenance of accurate accounts on an annual basis
  • Manage and co-ordinate information for any other Partnership requirements, including ad-hoc queries from Partners

Other

  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the operation of the wider Commercial team through developing, documenting and implementing high quality effective systems and processes which streamline the way we manage the business
  • Actively contribute to develop a more commercial culture in the Forestry division for the management of Partnerships so that decisions are made with full consideration of maximising cashflow and long-term value

Desired Technical / Professional Qualities

  • Education & Experience: Business, Forestry, or related qualification with a minimum of 2 years relevant operational experience
  • Commercial and Financial Acumen: Strong awareness of the commercial and financial aspects of all aspects of forestry management. Ability to manage top-line and bottom-line financials to maintain profitability and value from Partnerships.
  • ICT Proficiency: Strong IT skills, in particular Microsoft Excel and the supporting suite of Microsoft products. Experience in database development and maintenance is desirable.
  • Analytical/Data Skills:  Excellent analytical and organisational skills with experience in managing ‘big data’
