Progress on revising our Forest Management Plans
The term “Forest Management Plan” (FMP) describes all the site-level plans for the Coillte resource. Each site level plan represents the best balance of the social, economic and environmental objectives sought by ourselves and our stakeholders.
The plans falling within a particular 5 year period form the basis for a felling licence application to the Forest Service. The current felling licence expires in 2010 and a new licence is needed for the 2011 – 2015 period. The FMP’s are also a major part of the evidence we need at audit time to show that the FSC certification standard is being implemented.
Following the public consultation all 317 have now entered Phase 4, where they will go to the Forest Service, NPWS, Local Authorities and Regional Fisheries Boards for approval. The finalised plans will then be published on the web site thereafter. Click on the link for a description of the FMP Review process. .
