Online Map Viewer
You can view Coillte's forest estate and our current management plans using an online map and send us feedback that is particular to a given forest area. You must register brief user details before using. It is important to note that the map viewer shows the current forest plan information, prior to the forest review.
Each forest is split into smaller areas called Management Units (MU's). Four maps, where the Management Units are coloured differently to indicate different aspects of management are outlined below and can be turned on and off in the map viewer:
Felling: The maps show the forest blocks and gives indicative fell years. When the plan is finalised for each forest the fell year data will be amended to reflect the new situation.
Crop type: This layer attempts to show what the forest will look like following the implementation of the felling and restock plans for the given area of forest. It may take up to 40 years before this plan is fully implemented.
Land use type: This layer shows the current land use, be that open space, conifer woodland, broadleaf woodland, etc.
Management Objective: this layer shows the MU's by their principle, long term management objective. It is important to note that, for example, conifer woodland can have biodiversity as its long term objective if it is intended to clear the MU for the creation of a buffer zone alongside a river.
