Forest Management Plan review process

The graphic below explains the process we are following

The different phases are:

  1. Pre-planning (Phase 1-Public input into the planning process)

    duration: 6 weeks from publication of Pre-planning forest summaries

    objective: outline our priorities in each forest (in Pre-planning Forest Summaries) and gather public input to help direct our planning work.

    Who: members of the public
  1. Draft plan creation (Phase 2-Coillte working on plans)

    duration: 5 - 10 weeks

    objective: draw up the plan based on forestry principles, Coillte policy and public input gather in phase 1. Publish draft plan on web site.

    Who: Coillte staff
  1. Draft plan review  (Phase 3-Public feedback on draft plans)

    duration: 4 weeks from publication of Draft Forest Management Plans

    objective: gather feedback on draft plans.

    Who: members of the public

    There will be an opportunity for consultation on these plans at local level and each forest manager will be conducting a review of his or her stakeholders and making every effort to reach out to interested parties and community groups to inform them of what is planned in their areas.
  1. Plan licencing and completion (Phase 4-Plans finalised and approved)

    duration: 10 - 15 weeks

    objective: consult with Forest Service, Fisheries Boards, National Parks & Wildlife Service, National Monuments Service, Local Authorities to review the draft plan. Finalised plan to be published on website.

    Who: Coillte and relevant bodies.
