Coillte Management District E2 covers the counties of Carlow, Kilkenny and Wexford. The district is divided into 17 Forests that cover an area of approximately 25,000 hectares.
Forests are characterised by numerous small blocks set in rolling countryside with eight larger blocks on Forth Mountain, Bantry Commons, Mount Leinster, Rossmore Plateau, Derrylacky, Woodstock, Sliabh Bui and Croghan.
Included in this area are important salmonid fisheries particularly, Slaney, Barrow and Nore catchments and associated freshwater pearl mussel beds along with Scenic areas in Mount Leinster.  There are important nature conservation areas i.e. Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) along the Slaney, Barrow, Nore and Suir.
