Species Distribution gives information on the types and amount of species that we grow across our estate.

Coillte grow more than 18 species of conifers and 12 species of broadleaves. For simplicity we have amalgamated these species into eight groups. The data presented for species distribution are calculated from the productive forest areas (i.e., Conifer High Forest, Broadleaved High Forest and Mixed High Forest).

The data are presented as net area figures. The gross area has been reduced to take account of gaps in the canopy and does not include non-forested areas e.g. burned, felled, blown etc. areas.

Net Area = Gross Area (or total area) - gaps in forested area - non-forested area.
