Most plantation owners know that their timber is a valuable asset. However, very few know how to value their timber crop.  As a farmer you know what the market pays for your agricultural commodities, because of your familiarity with agricultural prices, markets etc,  mainly due to the fact that most farmers sell agricultural commodities on a regular basis: monthly, seasonally, and annually. But timber is different. Most forest landowners including farmers sell timber infrequently, sometimes only once in a lifetime. Therefore, it is vital that forest owners recieve the most up to date advice on harvesting and selling their forestry crop.

Is your crop approaching a first thinning?

If your crop is 12 years or older, it is probably approaching first thinning stage!.  Coillte will provide you with a free initial crop inspection   We will carry out a crop assessment for you, help you apply for a felling licence and harvest your timber.

Does your plantation have access?

If your site requires roads or loading bays we can undertake this work.  We can help  you with your road grant application.

Have you a market for your timber?

Coillte operate two of the largest pulp processors in the country, Medite Europe in Clonmel and Smartply Europe in Waterford .  We also sell timber on our auction system and purchase pulp roadside.

 

Are you clearfelling your crop?

We will carry out an assessment of your crop and put your timber up for auction to all the major mills.
