Coillte is committed to ensuring that appropriate staff are fully trained in aspects of nature conservation relevant to them.  Our staff receive ongoing training and development in various nature conservation requirements. In Coillte we continually enhance our environmental competence through:

• Provision of ongoing in-house training and development initiatives.
• Participating in tailored educational programmes to ensure continuous professional development.
• Supporting staff in obtaining additional professional qualifications in areas related to conservation.

Since 2001 our operational; staff, forest workers, contractors are provided with ongoing training in the protection and enhancement of biodiversity features and in the provision of deadwood habitats in forestry.

Since December 2002, approximately 75 Coillte Managers graduated from UCC (University College Cork) with a Certificate in Biodiversity Components of Forestry. From September 2008 Coillte managers will participate in a Diploma Programme in Biodiversity, also at UCC.

The company also supports  staff to acquire additional qualifications relevant to environmental management through participation on appropriate educational programmes…. e.g. ..Certificate / Diploma in Field Ecology. BSc Environmental Science, Diploma in Environmental Impact Assessment, Masters in Archaeology and Heritage etc..
