Coillte has been a leading provider of shared infrastructure solutions to the Irish Communications and Broadcast Industry for over 20 years. The Coillte estate covers over 7% of the land mass in Ireland, comprising of over 6,000 land locations which currently have over 400 active communication and broadcast locations.
With our large portfolio of existing towers and land locations Coillte is well positioned to support the following requirements of Communications and Broadcast companies:
- co-location opportunities on the existing Coillte tower portfolio
- new site opportunities and locations to support future customers needs
- backhaul infrastructure to support increased demand for high speed broadband
National Broadband Scheme
Coillte has completed the construction of over 100 towers on our land in supporting the infrastructural roll-out the National Broadband Scheme (NBS). Under its NBS business model Coillte has moved from traditional lease type agreements to a more pro-active role in maintaining full ownership and marketing rights on these towers.

Telecoms Strategy
The Telecoms Strategy is closely aligned to the Coillte Strategy under which our aim is to:
‘Realise greater commercial potential from our land assets by adopting a more pro-active approach to land development without reducing the productive capacity of the forest estate’.
We are presently undertaking a review of all legal agreements with our customers and a clean up of existing portfolios in order to protect Coillte’s commercial interests with the onset of new telecoms technologies. We are actively engaging with all of our customers to ensure that Coillte’s strong commercial position is protected and enhanced in an environment of rapid technological change within the telecommunications industry
