Renewable Energy
Coillte has been and will continue to be a significant contributor to achieving Ireland's renewable energy objectives and targets over the next decade. Circa 20% of installed wind energy generation capacity is situated on land, formerly owned by Coillte, and Coillte will act to underpin the delivery of Gate 3 through the provision of high quality wind generation sites and facilitation agreements relating to critical easements etc.
Furthermore, Coillte will deliver c. 400 MW of operating wind generation capacity through a range of Gate 2 and Gate 3 development projects throughout the country of Ireland, which places Coillte as the second largest developer of on-shore wind generation capacity in Gate 3. In addition Coillte has a pipeline of projects of 880MW beyond Gate 3.
Coillte has a long history of working with the communities in the environs of the forests and land assets under its stewardship. Our experience around the country has generated an inherent understanding that each community and receiving environment with which we interact is unique.
Coillte Enterprise has developed a windfarm Community Benefits Policy that reflects this fundamental understanding and which outlines the support that our wind energy projects can provide for local communities in the environs of our windfarm projects. See further information on our Policy.
Coillte is leading the way in the provision of carbon-neutral Biomass to Heat solutions to the Commercial and Industrial sectors in Ireland.
