About Coillte

National Tree Week 2011

Monday 7 March 2011

Coillte continues to work in partnership with the Tree Council of Ireland, in raising awareness about trees during National Tree Week. Coillte is organising a number of events around the country and is supplying over 15,000 trees which will be distributed to schools and community groups by local authorities.

Since National Tree Week began almost 30 years ago, approximately 400,000 trees have been planted by hundreds of communities in various locations throughout Ireland.

This year's theme for National Tree Week is 'Celebrating Forests For People'. Coillte manages over 1 million acres of forests, and these sites offer people who live in an increasingly urban society, an attractive environment to exercise and enjoy nature.
