Coillte appoints new Director of Renewable Energy
Wednesday 18th November 2009: Coillte, the forestry, panels products, land and energy company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Paulo Amante as Director of Renewable Energy. Paulo will have responsibility for the successful delivery Coillte's 400MW portfolio of wind energy projects throughout Ireland.
Commenting on Paulo's appointment Chief Executive of Coillte, David Gunning said:
"We are delighted to welcome Paulo to the company at this exciting and challenging time. Coillte is the second largest developer of on-shore wind generation capacity in Ireland and we are committed to our strategy of maximising the value of each of the projects we have. Paulo will bring a wealth of experience in wind generation project delivery at this crucial time, as we look to make a positive contribution to Ireland's renewable energy targets."
Paulo is a Portuguese national who has both an engineering and business background. He has extensive experience within the renewable sector both in Ireland and abroad, most recently as General Manager, in South America, for Mainstream Renewable Power. Before that he was Senior Development Manager at Airtricity.
Commenting on joining Coillte, Paulo said:
"Approximately 20% of installed wind energy generation capacity in Ireland is situated on land formerly owned by Coillte and with the 410 MW portfolio we currently have post Gate 2 and 3, I was very excited by the opportunity to make a real impact on the wind generation sector in Ireland by joining Coillte, Ireland's largest landowner, working as part of the existing team here."
