Coillte and Fáilte Ireland launch €5 million 'Welcome Initiative'
Wicklow, 22nd November 2007 - Coillte, in partnership with Failte Ireland, today unveiled the €5.3 million 'Welcome Initiative', providing state of the art outdoor recreation facilities for walkers and cyclists across the country. Coillte today formally announced its acquisition of Weyerhaeuser Europe Limited, the Clonmel based manufacturer of medium density fibreboard (MDF). The acquisition had been cleared by the Competition Authority on 10 November.

Coillte Profits up by 14% in 2006
Dublin, Wednesday April 25th 2007 – Coillte, the forestry and forest products business, today announced 2006 profits up 14% to €22.46 million, from €19.65 million in 2005. The year also saw the purchase of Medite Europe Ltd for €66 million, the company's largest acquisition to date.

Coillte today announced that it has signed the purchase and sale agreement with Weyerhaeuser Company to acquire its Weyerhaeuser Europe Ltd. MDF business based in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. The terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

National Tree Week 2007
An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern T.D., today launched National Tree Week 2007, which runs from 4th to 10th March. Organised by the Tree Council of Ireland and jointly sponsored by Coillte and O2, the theme of this year's week, now in its 23rd year, is Trees for Energy, highlighting the important contribution of trees as a natural source of renewable energy in Ireland.
