Coillte is currently looking to fill the following 2 operational roles : -
Millgate Operative
The successful candidate will be based at a sawmill in the Galway area and will be responsible for implementing Coillte’s volume/weight (VW) measurement system, managing the daily operations of the Automated Weighbridge System (AWS) and ensuring procedures for the removal and delivery of timber are implemented correctly.
Applicants must have –
- strong technical measurement skills
- strong IT skills
- an ability to fully adhere to documented procedures
- strong attention to detail
- good communication and collaboration skills
- an ability to work with minimum supervision
- an ability to deal with customers and others in a professional manner
- an ability to deal with conflict and to problem solve
- flexibility with regard to working outdoors and working hours
- a current Irish Driving licence and access to their own transport
A qualification in forestry or timber related discipline (HETAC Level 6 or above) would be a distinct advantage.

Temporary Area Foreman (6 month contract)
The successful candidate will be based in the Mullingar area and will be responsible for the organisation and supervision of Coillte Forest operations, ensuring compliance with standards and safe practice, engaging successfully with local stakeholders to ensure completion of operational programmes and implementing forest security measures to protect and maintain the forest estate.
Applicants must have –
- a minimum HETAC Level 7 qualification in forestry
- good understanding of forestry operations
- good IT skills
- good communication skills
- ability to organise and supervise staff and resources
- deal with local stakeholders, forest users and customer representatives in a professional and courteous manner
- a current Irish Driving licence
